TECHLink, formerly the South Central PA Perkins Consortium, will be submitting an application requesting to present at this year’s Conference on Integrated Learning: The School-to-Career Connection. The Pennsylvania Department of Education, Bureau of Career and Technical Education conducts this three day conference scheduled on November 7th through November 9th. Held at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, the conference is “designed to share successful strategies that increase the academic and career and technical success for all students.”
Following the dissolution of the Consortium model in the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 (Perkins IV), Pennsylvania’s statewide regional Consortiums found themselves without funding and slowly disappeared. The South Central PA Tech Prep Consortium became the South Central PA Perkins Consortium and remained a viable consortium within the region. Over the past year, the Consortium decided to undergo a major web-based and marketing overhaul. Emerging as the new “TECHLink,” and immersing itself in social media venues, our new and improved Consortium model can now serve as a hub of information for not only the south central Pennsylvania area, but for the state as a whole. TECHLink provides an abundance of CTE information, partnership opportunities, marketing options, a job clearinghouse and an all-encompassing website providing information related to career and technical education within the Commonwealth. This new social media web presence should be shared with the state and the Integrated Learning Conference is the perfect venue to do just that!
